You should transfer your videos to dvd or a computer because your tapes lose oxide
that is the coating on the tape which holds the picture and sound
Eventually your tapes will go bad, and they will be lost forever!
This unit has a built in LCD screen so you don't need to connect it to a TV
It has RCA jacks to connect to a monitor for picture and sound if you want to
