    Description

    American Flyer #21158 Docksider Prototype? My best guess is this piece is a prototype. The numbers were blackened but under magnification it looks like 21158. This piece differs significantly from the normal 21158 and from any other docksider I've ever seen. The shell is black and was painted blue. #21158 are blue plastic(not painted). This unit has a 2 position e-unit and smoke unit. The #21158 did not come with smoke and most did not come with a reverse unit. And most interesting is the linkage configuration, which is more complex than any docksider every put into production. I have no way of knowing for sure the origins of this piece but pre-production prototype seems most likely.  Please review all photo's for condition. Thanks!!
